They’re doing a grid check, so I can’t make more coffee.

I will. I considered buying more CG's to make BSL, then remembered I had a flock of perfectly good barred hens in the Legbars. Thinking about it now, I believe I could work it out for next spring. I will add that to my project list . . .I personally think those turquoise eggs are prettier than blue eggs. I think my legbar eggs have very slight of turquoise hint and they are so pretty! Put my on the waiting list for those black sexlink! They should be super cute! And have fluffy cheeks!
I need a bigger coop.....I can mark the eggs, but when Ameraucana and Legbar hens lay in the same nestbox, I am never certain which are which. If I do the pairing correctly, I could say all lavender chicks are pure Ameraucana and all black or black barred are the sexlinks from the Legbar hens. I never really thought that through until writing about it here.
I am also raising up a bunch of barred Ameracuanas. Those hens, if paired with a non-barred am rooster, will make sexlinks that are pure Ameraucana, in either black or lavender.
Sexed Ameraucana chicks are on my short list of what I would really like to offer for sale.
I will be retiring a bunch of older hens this summer to make room for young, vaccinated, pullets. I was planning to release them to go feral on the farm, but if you really want an older hen, let me know. Should have black and lav Ameraucanas, Welbars, Marans, bantam Ameraucanas. In the meantime keep me in mind if you get another aging Amerucauna hen!
Yes, you certainly do. And several brooders, then I can ship boxes of chicks to you and you can resell them in your area. Go from being just a user to a dealer . . . .I need a bigger coop.....
Is that really downsizing? I feel like: One emu = 10+ chickens..... And then you need more younger girls for eggs.....I'm considering downsizing my flock even more. With hen saddle sales skyrocketing and me working at the state park through the summer, I just don't have time to manage a good sized flock anymore. I think the majority of the ameraucana flock will be going minus the really sweet little girl, probably another half of the silkie flock, another half of the silkie feathered easter eggers too. I want to keep the 4 English orpingtons, about 5 silkies, my polish roo and the 3 pullets, and maybe 4 of the silkied EEs plus Ana (SPR), and the 1 ameraucana girl. With the flock cut back, I might move the turkeys to the chicken coop/run and reclaim the shed, either for a pet emu or just storage.
