Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

Is everyone still doing good? I hope nobody floated away! I heard that the Wimore Dam has failed and I'm praying they were able to evacuate everyone on time. Here, the lake was up 8" by 1pm today and Chest Creek down in town is still creeping up higher. Lots of roads closing due to flooding down in Altoona and Hollidaysburg ( I don't think we'll be having church tomorrow evening) and I think everything isn't supposed to crest until tomorrow morning sometime. Everyone stay safe and dry!

Pictures of Chest creek on my way home from work:

Wow, hope the dams don't fail completely, Johnstown is at real risk if it does.

We got over 9 inches total! But we also got about that much with Isaias. Everything ok in our immediate area, but lots of flooded roads and properties that are close to the river.

I really feel for the people who had flooded homes or cars, and also for the victims of tornadoes in the area.

I feel very blessed to live on top of a hill, no flooding here, though the lightning gets frightfully close. I am deathly afraid of tornadoes after having one land on my head some years ago, so reading today of the many tornadoes here in Chester County really frightened me. It was remarkably still here yesterday, there was a moment of rotating gusts that got me praying, but nothing came of it. At least 1, maybe 2 tornadoes in nearby Oxford, though, only 5 miles away.

The tornados are scary! We really didn't have much wind at all around us, just a continuous flowing rain. The lake was up 1.5 feet total from all this which really isn't too bad though that's very fast for 24 hours.

I remember the river rising in the place I was living in 2005. It was causing all of the businesses to close, but I had to keep Uni Mart open. :rant
The week after I left Tyrone, 2004, they were expecting I think a 30% chance of rain. The Juniata flooded, filled the basement of the church, through the chapel, and up several stairs to the third floor. Thankfully the church was closed down, and no one had taken over the building yet. No personal property was destroyed.

My grandma's property borders the river in Tyrone but it's also quite the hill from the house down to the river so I'm sure she didn't have any issues.

Speaking of Tyrone, there is a livestock swap tomorrow morning from 8-12 at Tyrone Milling in case anyone is interested.

Last hatch of the season is going on tonight/tomorrow. Trying to fill out some breeding pens of Ameraucanas and do a final quail hatch to take some young ones through the winter.

Youngsters growing out are looking good. Next year I should have chicks from Leige Fighters and Ayam Ketawa (Laughing chickens), as well as all the usual breeds.
