DS is all about music. It's his heart and soul lol. He sings, plays clarinet, piano, percussion, bagpipes and pretty much anything he picks up. Eventually, he'd like to go back to school for music education. For now, he wants to try to get in to drum corps international. There's an age limit so he wants to go for that first. Here's his cap.

I posted this in my state thread and the free rehoming forum but thought I’d give it a try here. I have two 10 week old drakes I hatched out that I can’t keep. Very sweet boys but my ratios are off. I’m located in Bethlehem Township,

Chickens can be brutal to each other. A few days ago I found a 2 month old pullet that had the back of her neck picked open. A (cursory) inspection looked like her spinal cord was exposed, and I didn't think she would make it, but she was alert, so I too her home to live in a brooder by herself. She not only recovered, but was determined to escape back to her family. Yesterday I moved her back to the farm, but she has to remain in solitary for a while until I am sure she won't get treated the same. She probably will end up with younger chicks. She is an Opal Legbar and they are maybe too docile for their own good sometimes.

My Rees Legbars were flighty, so they didn't really get hurt from any other chickens. The poor salmon faverolle is the one always getting picked. She can never keep her beard! She could have beard for a couple weeks after molting, then other chickens pull it off her. I really want to try Opal Legbar, but after two pullets died from Marek's recently, I need to wait until I can handle more.

They really can :/ I was making room in my bedroom brooder for my blue scale quail chicks that just hatched and moved one lavender ameraucana and one handicapped black ameraucana outside to the bigger brooder. There were some older birds out there but I always mix ages and there were already a few around the same size of there (taken from a broody not doing a good job). So I put those 2 out there and went back in to clean out the brooder. I went back out a while later... like maybe a half hour. The handicapped chick was fine, running with the group.... the lavender was hiding in the corner, bloody and bruised. She's the only lavender I have so maybe they didn't like her color? Anyway, she's now the big chick in the bedroom brooder caring for a bunch of tiny little quail and the other one is still outside, don't just fine.

Now, I have to share little quail pictures! These were taken a few days later so of course, there's food and poop all through the brooder :/ You probably can't tell in these pictures but most of these little guys have little tufts on top of their heads already and there's a couple that are actually very sweet and will cuddle on my hands. There's one tiny one with twisted toes that really doesn't mind me at all.
