Thanks MT! I don't have electricity run to the coops so for now I close the coop doors at dark...would love to have automatic doors!
 
Welcome to all the newbies here in PA! Good to see some people from my side of the state, when I first joined all I found was people from the eastern side of the state. Happy to see I'm not alone here in western PA!

I was thinking that too, but then I'd still want to go and do a head count to make sure all were safe and sound in their beds.

yep...me too! I have 3 girls in the smaller coop and 12 nine week old girls in the bigger coop and I like to make sure everyone is in and roosting at night. Just went out and let them into the runs this am, love to see the little girls run out and do their morning wing stretching!
 
I just told my DH this morning as we shared our morning coffee on the porch/mudroom.....Oh, how I wish I could stay home and tend to the chickens....but WE got bills to pay...

. In no time at all, I'd have me many more chickens, a few goats, perhaps a cow.....I'm already planning a beebox and got my seeds for spring planting. My family has been singing "Green Acres" since I moved in here.....
