Pennsylvania!! Unite!!

The boys have favorites...and often will gang up on one hen...3 in a row sometimes! The girls are not overly pecked over. I had one that this was happening to, I quarantined her for a few days and put blukote on her head and that seemed to help. The Delaware roos seem to not realize that just because Duck is white, does not make her the same species as them....and often try to mate her...she just turns her head and clamps on to their wattles!
Hahaha! Good for that duck teaching them a lesson!

We are now up to 10 babies! 3 Black Copper Marans, 3 Black Orpingtons and 4 MsLadyHawk mixes, pictures after fluffed and in brooder.

Got another week with the teenager before school starts in DE, wonderful getting one on one time with kids.

No, no eggs yet. I was thinking maybe he was the cause of no eggs!! He can be really really aggressive and really nasty!! If he wants some he doesn't like to take no!! Stupid males (sorry ahead of time for those men out there who aren't like that!) I have 2 other Roos with the mix and they are so calm that I just didn't know what to think! Thanks for the advice!

I'm thinking about something. I'm curious what the babies would look like of my black copper marans roo and my ugly sister( naked neck cross) Hmmm...really colorful half naked babies?
The little black chick from my hatch in my pics on y profile is from the cuckoo marans I told ya I had and the NN I have now. Is a pretty baby/

@littlebrownie your rooster is just being rooster. he is more than likely the alpha rooster that is why the other 2 seem docile. could your one rooster be the problem of your hens not laying? maybe how many roosters are there to how many hens? to many roosters cause stress on the hens. hens in stress may not lay. how old are your birds? i need more information to help you. the standard rule of thumb is 1 rooster to every 10 hens.
if your chickens are first year pullets than it maybe they just are not laying yet. if the boys are first year cockerels they will be that way for a short time will settle down in the spring. you know all the females eggs will be fertile. the males sperm will stay alive in the female for up to 2 months.

That is a cute lil baby. I believe the NN cross I have now is the only one laying. And God knows she got hammered by the roo right off the bat. What do you guys think? Should I see what kind of baby they make? I'm still interested to see what a BCM roo and a silkie hen make.
