Hi everyone, I have just found out that I most likely have Coryza disuse in my flock. I am so stressed out right now. I do not have the money to give all of them meds for the rest of there lives. My older girls look great its the young ones that I just got 2 weeks ago that are all getting sick. So I'm being told to cull all of my flock. I'm not happy right now. I'm a newly single mom and don't know if I can start all over again.

But if by the grace of god... and I know he can to all things, I can get more SOON. How to I go about sanitizing my coop and pen?

I have a mama chicken that is laying on 3 eggs and they are due on the 5Th, what do I do?

How long till I can get new chickens?

I am soooo freaking sad right now, I cant stop crying. I love those stupid chickens and now have to tell my 3 and 2 year old that we have to put them all down!

Does anyone know where I can go to get HEALTHY almost laying hens for a good price? Nothing special. I had a mixed flock.

Please let me know if anyone has any info. I live near Apollo Pa. My kids are just sooo upset. We are going to say goodbye tonight. And I will be leaving tonight to take them somewhere so the ex and do what needs to be done. I feel like the worst parent ( kid and chicken mom) in the world!

Has anyone else around here dealt with this?
 
aww...the kitties are cute, and the poodle who is playing mama is a saint! I'm not allowed ANY more animals... :( plus, i also seem to have a cat who has decided the litterbox is not good enough....much to my fiancee's horror first thing in the morning...every morning!

I would have to say if anyone would know where to get new birds out there. Reach out to the members close to you. Look at the post right below you. They are basically right down the road from you compared to some others here. Craigslist is a place I look often for new birds, or even ones that need homes. You could also hit the buy-sell-trade forum and post a wanted ad for a small flock. as far as treating the disease, I would do a general internet search to find solutions for cleaning your pen and such. Another valuable resource is your local extension office. Does Penn State have a local extension close? If not your county government should have an 800 # to call and reach someone local to suggest cleaning and sanitizing methods.

HAve you ever thought of just closing your flock? Is that a possibility for you? No one in/no one out? Is it possible to treat the symptoms? (I know nothing about this disease...)

That looks to be the local extension office for your area. Give them a call and see what your options are before your ex goes and destroys your birds.
 
I thought of that but was told by some that they would be on meds for ever and I don't know if I can afford meds for all the girls I have and 2 boys. Not for the rest of there lives, and on that note, I don't know if that is fare to them and or if the eggs are ok to eat. I don't want them to suffer.
