Maybe i will visit both of you come spring . I really like the marans. I gave my cuckoo hen to chad mainly b/c she was lone marans here and way on the bottom of pecking order
Is the Cuckoo Maran hen laying yet,,, if so, is it a dark egg?
Not sure what the Black Copper and Cuckoo cross would look like,,, but, it should be a dark egg layer if they're pullets.

I am a bit shy in person but thanks to the people I have met in person from BYC ive learned chicken people are usually safe people as it were !!! and what can i say im a chicken addict lol

Does 'both' mean me too!? Yay! It gets lonely way down here in the Southeast corner! We used to have a lone Cuckoo Marans pullet that never did find her way in our flock, she now lives with Lily97.

And Ray, I would be happy to share with you in the Marans gene pool. I would bring you eggs tomorrow at the dragon, but I've just entered all our eggs in the Unionville Community Fair. Also, we'll be gone from the dragon before you get there, gymnastics at 6p, so we will miss the auction. :(

I've got to hand it to you brave hatchers. I have retired my incubator for the season. We did Mahroni's New Years Hatch last year and lived with chickens in the house for what seemed like FOREVER. Not doing that again.

BR- Barred Rock

I don't have any LF Cochins (yet). ;)

Silver, chicken people are the best, I have to agree. Not afraid to live 'outside the box'.

I'm hoping the new hatch can go to an empty coop as soon as they feather,,, couple of heat lamps should do the trick,,,, know what you mean, I think I had around 60 chicks and ducklings in the basement here in the spring,,,, not easy to keep up with..... LOL.... will consider myself lucky to get 20 out of this hatch,,, figure on a lower hatch rate from the shipped eggs
