I do have a roost in the top of the coop.Well, I think you should try to put a roost inside the coop. That is an instinct, they would rather sleep outside on the roost, then in the coop on the floor?????????????

yep, why you ask ????I know, I know, it's late to be asking....but...did anyone raise turkeys this year and have them butchered for sale for Thanksgiving?
sounds about right. the min .is 4 sq feet per bird. if you go bigger, you lesser the chance of diseases and bickering. So I am shooting for no more than max 8 hens (more likely 6), so I would need 32 (or 24) sq feet of coop space, plus more space for roosts and nests? Sound about right?
chad please let me know. i really want to go.Hey Missy. Yeah. Scheduling issues at Hsbg.
Talked to dr. Hanshaw's office and they are looking to reschedule. With it being early in the morning and the snow over night the roads probably won't be the best for travel.
what I do now are the broad breasted for thanksgiving....I am working on getting a pen going for heritage breeds but I am finding that turkeys are a little harder to hatch......Turkeys are very amusing to watch but I would not go with to many at first unless they have their own pen, they are clumsy and step on everyone in their path especially me, imagine bending over to do something and having a 20 pound bird decide to use you as a perch...My son wants to try turkeys next year. We just might. Of course, he wanted to start with 20, I suggested 4! Lol.
