PENS FOR CHICKS

Hello poultry lovers alike! I would like to make a pen for raising chicks in my main run and one that the other chickens can’t fly into. Does anyone have plans I could go off of or help me with this idea? Help would be appreciated! Thanks!

For chicks under weeks of age I have used a smaller pen made of 2 x 4 welded wire that sits inside a 10 foot x 10 foot dog pen. The smaller pen is placed near front of larger pen waterer and feeder are more accessible.

How old?
I've found chicks can get thru 2x4 until about 4-6 weeks.
Why I lined my runs with 1/2" HC.

Does anyone have plans I could go off of or help me with this idea?

Under 4 weeks. Older and breeds I have start having troubles fitting through.

Ah, I see...DOH!... lets chicks in and out but not bigger birds.

It is like a creep feeder. I like to place an inverted milk crate inside so they can roost up sooner. Makes for proper integration and speeds young birds moving up on to roost poles later. The approach is not ideal when Black Rat Snakes being a problem. That is why I like to use rabbit cages that I can close doors to at night.
