please list them! you see I need a purebred chicken I live in Maine but as far as I know ther are no chicken breeders in Maine and can not find a single one!

What breed are you looking for? A lot of breeds have a website where you can find a reputable breeder.

Chicken hatcheries almost never sell purebreds :/, my 4-H leader said.

Well then she's wrong. MyPetChicken has sold me a wide variety of my chickens. The Cochins,Cochin bantams,Frizzles,Silkies,Brahmas,d'Uccles,Polish,Sumatras,Langshans,Black Copper Marans,Blue Ameraucanas,Appenzeller Spitzhaubens,Jersey Giants,etc.,etc.,etc. to name a few I have ordered from there are purebreeds,as far as I'm concerned. Like I say,if it looks like horse dung,smells like horse dung,and feels like horse dung it's most likely horse dung. Just sayin'.

My 4-H leaders a boy not a girl just sayin! But most hatcheries sell mix breeds mostly for money
They mix because they want the chickens to lay well and to be good chickens not saying that they do not sell pures.

I've heard that the hatchery Dutch are mixed with OEGB, but other than that, I don't know of hatchery birds being mixes. They may not be up to breed standards yes, but not all are mixes. They probably wouldn't be birds you'd use for show, but would be great for utility.

Yup...only once in a blue moon you'll get a hatchery bird up to breed standards.
