people that just walk into your house unannounced- why?????

Anyone who enters my house announced is likely to see a very scarey sight. Me in the nude.

Let this happen once to unwanted visitors, and they soon learn to knock.

I have a young neighbor kid that will walk in without knocking, and it is probably my fault that he does, but it does scare me. I do have a very big dog, and a bunch of little dogs, one that I know will bite if he pushes her. (He is clueless enough that I don't trust him) It has scared me more than once. I now have to give him a few more clues, like, that he has to call me before walking into the house. I also need to keep the the door locked too.

But No one should walk into your home without permission. Another option would be the next time the guy is expected to drop by, have the biggest meanest looking guy you know or can find, waiting for him to walk in. I bet he will never do it again, if he knows any better. Some guys tend to think that women alone are fair game, and enjoy making a woman without a man in the house uncomfortable. He may just need another guy to explain common courtesy to him. Of course there is always the option of simply meeting him with a shot gun. The stepson will probably never forget the lesson either.

Hoppy I have a neighbor that let himself in WHEN I WASN'T HOME since a contractor was in here and proceeded to take pics of the inside of my house, because he "liked what we had done" I came completely unglued on him... and the contractor that let him!

Hoppy Id be creeped out. Only people that I expect over come waltzing in my house without knocking-usually Im right there as my front door leads right into the litchen so I can see them coming or I hollar " come in!" Theres few people that just walk in my house-my sis being 1 and my dad-oh and my MIL-oh my neices and nephews too-half the time they do knock and know we are in the house so they come looking for us but I have made it clear to knock first -most are good

I have recently need to talk to the neighborhood kids about this.

We are out in the sticks a bit, and it would be horrible for someone to get hurt or worse due to a lack of manners.

we had this happen when the house was being built as well (different person). contractor came by to work and there is this guy taking a tour of the house, says he knows the home owner. contractor asked him who that was and he came up with the wrong name. contractor told him he had better not find him here again without an invite.
found out that guy does this alot and things disappear. he was caught "visiting another house" and shortly thereafter killed himself (at his home).

I'm keeping the door locked now when I am expecting my son's friend, I hate to have that conversation but my gosh, you just don't do that!

TerrieLacy, I'm shocked and appalled at your bloodthirsty response. [...where's that Report button?]

Then report me, too! Honestly, if someone just walked into my house without knocking, I'm the one who would come unglued!

<---- is reporting the Hooligans for stirring up trouble, is reporting Terrie to herself for being an advocate of animal cruelty by suggesting a good dog be forced to bite a rude untasty human and I am reporting Speckledhen for reporting herself....and while I am at it...I am reporting myself for being in complete agreement with them

Yeah, that just wouldn't happen more than once here, either.

The second time, well, they wouldn't be allowed back on my property.

on the plus side at least you know they aren't a vampire because vampire's can't enter your house without an invite. well on true blood they can't anyway

(i think i've been watching it too much maybe...)

but yeah seriously, what weird behaviour. pretty common sense type basic manners to knock first. not to mention for all the safety reasons mentioned (dogs and naked people etc), could end up losing a limb or eyesight!
