People Who Expressed Interest in my Heelers- Update on Post #786

I'll post pic's for sure!!!

Gosh I can't wait - and I'm SO not ready, but we'll make do - she's going to get used to DUCKS right off the bat - the ducks still live in the house!

I got really worried yesterday - a guy from next farm over was telling us that he had a heeler, and he got into trouble because the heeler was always running off into the NEXT ranch to work the cattle over there!

I hope we can keep this little girl busy enough!

He also said how the heeler he had was FANTSTIC with his kids, but if anyone else showed up the dog was SO over-protective, they were worried the dog would hurt someone.

There are not many people around, but I need to be very good about taking her out and about with us to meet new people so she won't get so protective when seeing a stranger.

Well it really depends on how you raise the dog. Raise a heeler right and it'll be the best dog you've ever had, raise it wrong and it can turn into a nightmare. We keep our heeler as busy as possible, agility, fly ball, herding, just playing fetch outside. Yes the can be very protective, but when my heeler was a pup I took her to training classes, this helped her interact with different people and dogs, so I highly suggest that, bring her everywhere you can bring a dog and let her socialze. When your duck get a little older have her herd them or bring her to herding classes, or join a stock dog club. There are so many things you can do with her, just remember that she isn't too young to start training, the minute you get her should be when training starts. Good luck and can't wait to see those pictures! We should all make a thread of "who got puppies from Buster!" Actually we're thinking of naming our little guy Buster, what are you name ideas?

Her name is probably going to be Ginja. (as in Ginger but with my funny accent!)

It might be Kate, or Coco as well - we'll see when we meet her!

How did he get along with the chickens and ducks? We're going to introduce our little guy to the runner ducks right away and start his herding training.

Have you decided on a name yet? She looks like a Kate
