Has anyone else ever tried making fodder for their house chickens?

The other day I was cooking breakfast for my (human) daughter. I made a batch of coating for French toast, which included a heavy dose of sugar and three of my hens' eggs. However, when I reached for the bread I discovered it to be moldy. I couldn't just cook and eat sweet-tasting eggs and was just about to throw them out when I thought "why not just cook em for the hens?" Scrambled em and let them cool, and when I flung them out in the yard they were eaten before I got back in the house. Talk about recycling…

oh man my ladies LOVE cooked eggs. We always have a little left over egg batter from french toast on sunday mornings and cook it up for the chickens. They are like drooling dogs when they see us coming haha

My girls love eggs too. I haven't given them extra French toast eggs before. Now I know for next time. Has anyone ever given their chickens grapefruit? My girls go crazy over it.



I found out today that Sunni gets REALLY cranky if she goes too long without food. She walked up to my mom and bit her finger really hard this evening, and she jumped up and bit my finger when I reached down to give her a piece of my pizza crust. I put her upstairs and she started eating her pellets at full speed. Im looking forward to the new house. Our current house in two stories, and Sunni's enclosure is upstairs. Our stairs are old wooden stairs that curve, and Sunni can't climb them. So she doesn't have access to her food all the time like she should. Our new house will be one story, so that'll be really nice for her.

He everyone! Sorry I haven't been on much lately, I've been pretty busy.
Boy am I getting in the Christmas spirit! I just had my christmas choir concert last night. Loved it! The other night I took some leftover Christmas lights that my mom didn't use for decorations and I strung them around the chickens' cages. It looks so pretty! I'll get a pic this afternoon.

I feel a bit of Christmas spirit coming on, and with me working full time and no bills to pay (woohoo for living with your parents!), I really want to give someone else the chance to have their own Hen Holster!

Wow! What a sweet thing to do

I am constantly amazed at the good nature of the people on BYC. Most forums consist of know-it-alls who only wanna argue, insult, and berate each other constantly. Man, I love this place
