people with house chickens

Exciting! I love painting! You should show off some pictures when you're done.

I've added three little ducklings to my flock. I am determined to keep one of them inside. I think I've picked it out too, one of them is way more attached to me than the others are. She would rather snuggle with me than the other duckies too! I love it! lol
This is Dixie my future house duck

I made them a cute little basket with a fleece liner/cover for them to sleep in right next to my bed. Then when they cry I can just slip my hand in the basket and they all snuggle up with me. Dixie prefers to sleep in my hair, but I've gotta keep her from making that a habit, one day she will be too big to share my pillow lol

Hello everyone! Glad to find this thread via a very nice welcoming person who sent me a link. I have a house chicken and a house turkey! Its alot of up keep but its worth it.. Eggnog is my chicken i just got her from a friend she had a toe pecked off and another almost pecked off.. She couldn't keep her any more so she came to me and she decided she wanted to be a house chicken soo i just went with it. And since i already had a house turkey it was easy to adjust them together my house turkey is named little wing but we call her lurk or lurkey! Had her since she was a week old.. She couldn't walk and needed therapy which she got along with bi weekly injections for joint support cuz shes a broad breasted white and they are very heavy.. 30lbs

Those are some ridiculously adorable ducks! I've always wanted some myself, but I've just got way too many house chickens to even think about adding any. Ducks rawk!

Thanks! I love them!
They are so snuggly!
I miss having Trina inside with me. She is bit standoffish now that it's breeding season, and unless we get Pom ANOTHER friend, she probably won't be coming back inside for more than a visit now and again. They get very upset when they aren't together. I'm glad she has a mate that she's so attached to! But REEEEEALLY miss having her inside with me =( Dixie is here to fill that void lol
I spent the weekend re-working my room so she can have her own place in my room, AND so she can't get into things in my room. Started looking at fancy baby gates with walkthrough doors on CL again too... we had a metal shelf propped in my doorway with Trina, stepping over that got to be quite dangerous for clumsy ole me. Even bought myself an old stereo cabinet to store my skylanders in so little Dixie can't eat them when she gets bigger. DH already broke a couple that were sitting on my display shelf so with the new ducky all things will need to be behind glass!

I will be making little diapers for them either late tomorrow or tuesday afternoon, so I'll be sure to post pictures. They aren't as cute as grown up diapers, but they save my poor bed spread. Thankfully DH was in Vegas for a bachelor party all weekend so he wasn't around to scold me for letting them poop on the blanket. It's old and ugly and will just get washed before he gets home hehe

How did I miss this?! LOL too stinkin cute! Do they wear diapers? Or do you just get to clean up after them?
Is she very loud? She's freakin adorable!

I actually just ordered her a diaper it came in to small, sending it back for a larger one.. For right now i have those felt back table cloths lining the floor so as they drop a turd i go and fetch it. Its very easy to clean of the vinyl. There is no carpet in my house so i don't worry to much were "it"happens.. I just clean it right away.... Ive invested in paper towels. I actually got a giant 12 pack of papertowels from my best friend for christmas. Its alot of work but to me its worth it! Just got eggnog had her for about a week so i haven't fitted her for a diaper yet... But looked at some sweaters for her.. There really cute...also in contact with someone that might be able to make lurk some shoes she has really bad feet.

Oh and the chicken is louder than the turkey through out the day... Only in the morning when lurkey heres me getting up she starts calling for me to come to her....she so sweet had her since she was a week really bad pic of me but its a cut pic of lurk when she was a pip squeak
