people with house chickens

I took a picture of Sunni wearing her scarf that I made her. It is identical to the one that I made for myself. Too bad she doesn't like it...

It's so stinken cute on her!

Oh my god I love it!!

My silkie was between 14 an16 weeks when he started crowing. BTW I figured out why he gets so noisy...the booger wants out to walk around, but won't go more than 2 ft from his wifie wholikes to stick to home lol :) Gotta love him!

The scarf is really so cute! What is it with these creatures that they don't like scarfs, dress up, diapers - for dogs warm booties-and for cats a little outfit for cold outdoors. I guess they are just independent souls and have likes, and dislikes, much like us humans. But they sure love attention, treats, special things when they want to sleep on the bed, stay in the house, get hand fed and over all spoiled. Love them all, anyway, despite their little crazies!

I own 5 hens; One australorp, one auracana, one jersey white giant, one silver laced wyndotte, and one silkie. and two roos; both silkies. they all live in a cage style coop we built out of wood and poultry fencing set on top of two base cabinets in my backroom. they go outside but not much since it got cold. and one rooster loves to get picked up and carried around the house in my sisters arms. i guess i could say we only have house chickens! because they are always so close they constantly get attention and we also clean their coop at least twice a day,so we really have had the chance to bond with our girls. ive been reading this thread for a while and we have so much in common with some of your stories i felt like i should share ours.
go house chickens!

That is very cool! Is it a diaper?

I have never had a problem with Bluebelle being egg bound but she lays one egg every three weeks on a avarage haha I don't know why she just never has layed !!!

Wow she is gorgeous!!! What kind of chicken is Bluebelle? I have a serama with similar coloring and I think it's just the prettiest ever!
Bluebelle has a little darker breast I think, she is so darn pretty though! I want to squeeze her!
The milk crate is great for size comparison

Finn is 4 months old. He has lived inside since we found him abandoned under our barn. We had to get him a diaper because I was tired of chasing after him all day with paper towels. He doesn't seem to mind, which is great. Finn is pretty nice, but when Jackie, our dachshund puppy, chases after him, he usually pecks her on the nose. It doesn't stop her from trying it again though!

This is Rooster Cogburn. He has been inside for a few days now. Rooster here is actually our neighbors, but he usually hangs out over here. We noticed he had frostbite on his wattles and legs so we brought in a coop and put him in it. He seems to get along fine with Finn now.

What cute little boys! I miss my little indoor crower sometimes, but I definitely can't take it all day every day. Then again I would snuggle him when I REALLY wanted him to shut up haha
That is an awesome cage too! Wish I had a place for something that big in my house to let them all run free a little while without diapers.

Good morning, everyone!

Question: Those of you who have roosters... How old were they when they started crowing? If you could also include breed, that would be awesome. Trying to figure out if I'm the only one with extremely early crowers.

Thanks

My seramas usually start around 3-4 weeks. It's ridiculous! But my BLRW never crowed, even months after their sisters started laying. But they were living with Toy Boy the macho man's man serama roo, who probably would have kicked their giant butts if they had even DAYDREAMED about crowing LOL

She is so dang cute! If she ever gets used to it, you should put some snaps on her diaper neck strap and on the scarf so she can wear it as a diaper accessory! That's how we managed Trina's dragon costume.

Fuzz balls!!!!!
Gotta love silkies. Do they get dirtier than smooth feather chickens? I have one silkie, she lives outside, and she is always SOOOO much dirtier than everyone else. I wonder if she is just a weirdo or if that isnormal? I'm pretty sure she is mental. She is the most skittish chicken I've ever met in my life, and not the brightest either. Her sister had a super weird neurological issue and died at 3 months so I wouldn't be surprised.
You say yours are dirty but they look pretty clean and fluffy to me! What cuties!

So it looks like I have acquired a new house friend. Nuke is quite small and has found a way out of the coop. When I get home in the afternoons she come running down the driveway to greet me and proceeds to try to follow me in the house! We were gone for a couple days and my MIL watched the birds and absolutely fell in love with Nuke and asked where she could find my extra diapers. When we got home Nuke had become a regular house chicken!
I brought her in my room to find a regular roosting spot (she was still sleeping outside with the other chickens until we got home, just hanging out inside in the afternoons) and she went right over and snuggled in on top of the brooder! Dorky chicken. I moved her to a more suitable and less fire-hazardy place but it was super cute or her to flock right to the babies!

(look at that mess! I sweep those shavings up twice a day or more and somehow there are STILL shavings in the cage for them to toss out! LOL)

And a little ducklings first diaper waddle for your entertainment =)

Bluebelle is a Bluebelle or Blue Ranger hybrid !!! She had an emergency vet appointment and wasn't named by the people who were going to cull her so Bluebelle just stuck :) Bluebelle sleeps anywhere but she is a fidget at night and she snores and Henry sleeps in the bed with me with his neck stretched out and bum in the air

This was Bluebelle when I first got her she was so thin couldn't walk and was nervous and was already a year old
