people with house chickens

That is so funny. I have had the turkeys in during the very cold weather. I was watching an animal show with birds (and how intelligent they are) and I swear my turkey hen was watching intently. I took a video of her watching it. Very cute. She was especially intense when a bird was on the TV.
I love these guys. But, out to the yard again.

Yeah, poultry are so much smarter than people give them credit for! Sunni likes to watch TV too. One time there was an eerie seen on the show we were watching, and she started doing her nervous growl. It was cute, but sad at the same time.

Hope your boy is ok!

Today as an Easter present I will be giving Finn the huge Flock Block my dad got a while back. He is very spoiled! All house chickens are, haha.

What a great idea!! I think I just might do that for Sunni on her first birthday. That or buy her a tub of mealworms. Her birthday is May 6th. It's coming up fast!

Thanks, happy easter too! It sucks because the block is huuuge, and it will most likely go stale before he finishes it, but oh well!

I can tell how much you love Finn and I have the same love for my little guy. I think u bond differently since they're indoor pets. I just pray he gets better

i never expected this.

I'm on my way to raising up a house chicken! Standard white cochin hen! With any luck, she'll hatch today and be with me by the end of the week! Her name will be Pepper.

She's going to have an indoor coop but she'll be out most of the day diapered. I'd rather potty train her, but I'm far more tolerant of accidents than my boyfriend

She'd also be coop-free if we didn't have a cat. He'll just need to get his butt kicked once by a chicken that weighs as much as he does and he'll never want to mess with her again, and we do keep claw caps on him, but he's very licky. Cat saliva is too dangerous to everything avian for me to want to risk them being in close proximity without supervision.

Still, she's going to spend most of her time out and about. She won't have any other chicken friends for several more months, but we fully intend to socialize with her and take the place of her flock to keep her from being lonely. Then I suppose it'll be up to her - if she prefers us over the new backyard hens, she'll be welcome to stay a house chicken!

Are you talking about a different person with a sick rooster? Finn is healthy, unless you can see into the future and he has some crazy disease!
