people with house chickens

I didn't mean a complete house only chicken, I would let them go outside too. The way I said it it sounded like I would lock them inside all day lol. Yes they will go outside too and if some prefer to come inside as well, okay. If they find they love it outside I will let them stay. :)

A lot of you probably don't recognize me but I used to post on this thread a lot before I got really busy. I went out on a limb and took 2 of my 3 house hens to the county fair. I was kind of nervous to try it because I didn't know how they would react with all the commotion and small enclosures. Turns out, I actually think they like it! Ebony keeps clucking to, pecking and challenging all the other chickens in the cages around her, just to make sure she's the dominant hen.

And Winter (for some strange, strange reason) has really been enjoying eating, pecking at and dust bathing in the pine chip bedding, even though I use the same bedding at home.

Blu and Finn are like that! Finn used to live inside but now lives outside and still comes inside, mostly when its thundering or rainy because he gets scared. Blu has always lived outside but she loooves coming inside whenever! She always ends up sleeping on my lap lol.

Chickens have such quirky personalities. We have a Silkie that has my DH wrapped around her 5th toe and she gets whatever she wants. She would ask to be let in to lay her egg in the quarantine pen and then immediately go out after laying her egg and DH let her! When she wanted to come inside to go broody I said, no, she can brood in the coop and she did. Every one of our chickens were house chickens as juveniles before being old enough to integrate with the adult hens so they feel entitled to come in whenever they want!

I have chicky nurse, I haven't been feeling well the past few days and Pancake has been glued to me. Hanging out on my bed with with me more then normal. Yesterday she came over and started grooming my hair.
