People with multiple roosters, advice needed.

I do this, also.
Tho, my difference is solid wind breaks in the winter and a secondary fence in summer about a foot out from runs to prevent close contact thru runs.

My Marans roo 'Kong' will kill my mixed flock roo 'King'.
Kong will kill king?? That majestic bird wouldn’t kill a fly. He’s a sweetheart.

Yes... Kongs, Kings and 6 in the bachelor. I'll have a 3rd flock this spring with Poppy (the White boy) for BBS Silver Marans.
Ooo boy you ARE about multiplying! I love it! Ok I can do that. Thankfully I have space. So I’m thinking I’ll have a bantam flock, a standard flock and then my cockerels flock. Of course I’ll have to give my little Cochin about 2-4 additional bantams…(he likes the ladies) welp more chicks it is, and as luck would have it I have a broody!

Omg!! It is not!! Awwww they turned out so beautiful, although I’m not surprised. Wow you’re doing such an awesome job!
Thanks..Solo (the Black Silver) just started laying so I'm waiting a week or 2 and going to set some eggs from her and Kong as she's still in his flock. That will put her 'type and low tail' into the BCM females. All males will be culls. (Silver leakage)
Then I'll pen her with Poppy for more BBS Silvers. I'm not sure yet if he's hiding Black or Blue.

Right right right..so you said words I don’t understand, leakage and BBS, and cull I hope isn’t like ya know..off with their heads.

That's sounds like a great plan...
I'm ready for more broodys also, sort of 🤣

I figured someone would mention it.. but keeping a separate flock of all roosters is doable. Best think is no within sight of the other flock though. Break any line of sight. That will calm down male birds in general, not just chickens. Help for any or even less aggression out of the roos. Then space is huge too.

BBS means Blue, Black and Splash. When paired together they hatch like this.

The breeder I got the BBS Silvers from has Recessive White in their flock so the occasional white bird also pops up. Think of it as a bonus 4th color if you want to breed white to white. (Simply put)
So technically speaking he is either a Black or Blue Silver but he's recessive White. He's hiding the black or blue.
By hiding the blue or black underneath, I have to test mate him to find out.
So using the graph above, by mating him to my Black Silver girl, if all chicks hatch out Black Silvers he's hiding Black. If I get a mix of some hatch out Black Silvers and some Blue Silvers that means he's hiding Blue.

My hope is he's hiding Blue. 🙂
