Pepper plants, can my girls have them or not?

I've read threads before of chickens eating things they shouldn't have. One story was about chickens who ate rhubarb leaves in the garden and died slowly over several days.

Lots of animals eat plenty of things they shouldn't. Dogs eat chocolate and grapes. You think rat poison and things like that taste like heaven on earth? They taste and smell the same, like chemicals. But they still get eaten.
