Percent of hatching shipped eggs!

So exciting, I haven't hatched eggs since I was eight years old and my mom wanted to teach us about life cycles. I hope you have a great hatch!

Quick question on shipping practices...you have discussed what you do to improve summer hatch rates on shipped eggs, but what about winter? (I live in Massachusetts and it gets below freezing most nights). Do you have eggs shipped with a heat pack? Or does that make them too warm? I see most shippers leave that decision up to the buyer and I'm a newbie!!

I don't ship in the winter. I believe it's unfair to the buyer. I want to give the buyer the best possible outcome. I ship basically march to July or August. Also mine are seasonal so they stop laying in nov thru jan.

UpDate!!!!

Great news!!! i candled my eggs at day 8..couple days ago and 7 eggs are at this picture!! developing nicely!!

and 2 eggs are with blood rings!!

And 6 eggs nothing much happened!! so 9 out of 15 eggs started to develop giving me a 60 percent fertile and development rate!! great shipping percentage!!! I am a happy camper!! fingers still cross till hatch day!!!

I have a dozen cemani hybrids in shipped from Georgia to Pennsylvania. Half look good

They are here!!! 6 eggs out of 15 shipped eggs hatched! Very happy with this result!! Total of 9 eggs developed..2 turned blood ring 1 stop developing at day 10 I think..and 6 hatched!!

this is my 3rd batch of shipped eggs..And my first successful hatching of shipped eggs!! What went wrong on the other 2 batches?

I've had good luck with most shipped eggs. I had one batch from California that weren't good. I'm in northern Pennsylvania and pickup eggs at the post office.

I had a shipped order of 10 Crested Cream Legbar eggs.... none of them made it. =( Four of them never developed, and four were very early deaths. Two sailed straight through into lockdown, but never pipped. I'm still fairly new to incubating, but my last batch of Black Copper Marans did wonderfully and under the same conditions. I guess I must have failed these eggs somehow.

I won't lie. It was a huge bummer. Apparently, there are some fertile Cream Legbar eggs available about three and a half hours from me. I think it'll be worth the drive!
