Perfect yolk and white, but no shell to be found.

I found two of these today, for the first time ever.

One was in the nest and the other was on top of the nest box when they were going to sleep. (They roost on top of it.)

I don't know what to think, it's strange! It looks like someone cracked open an egg in a frying pan. There's no sign of a shell anywhere.

What does this mean? They're eating the same things they've always eaten, nothing has changed. The only thing is that I have quite a few pullets just starting to lay that have never laid before. But still I think it's extremely odd to get two eggs with no shell at all in one day! Help!

Sometimes you just get some shell less eggs. Especially if they are young hens and weird things can also happen if they get stressed. Has it been really hot there or anything scared them lately?

I have such a hard time resisting throwing whole shell less eggs at things.

It's like an egg filled water balloon.

Mine weren't like that, I couldn't pick them up. It was just like someone cracked open an egg and was getting ready to scramble it in a frying pan. There wasn't any membrane around it or anything, it was just the perfect yolk surround by whites laying there on top the nest box!

It hasn't been any hotter than usual here, and nothing stressful has happened. But they are laying for the first time, some of them.

It's not uncommon for new layers to lay shell-less or soft shelled eggs while their bodies are adjusting to laying. I would increase their calcium. I have a dish of oyster shells always available for them and I also mix some yogurt in their crumbles.
