Permanent coop, movable run?

Does anyone have advice on creating a permanent coop, but a moveable run? I don’t want to have to haul the entire coop around my property all the time, but would like to be able to move their run around regularly. I’d love to free range, but just way too many predators to do so. Thanks for the help!

The easiest thing would-be a hoop coop. They are super light, mostly just wire, so easy to drag from one place to another.

When you want to connect them, drag the hoop coop/run up to the permanent coop.

Maybe a run with a door that lines up to the pop door, so when you're moving the run you can just close that up? I'd probably recommend a tractor instead, or doing some chunnels like these:

These 'chunnels' allow the chickens to 'free range' while not really free ranging.

Lovely idea, but not really practical.

Two ideas come to mind:
  • Permanent coop, pop door on each side, permanent run on both sides. Let the chickens hang on one side until the greenery is all gone, then swap them to the other side for a few weeks while you replant/regrown the greenery on Side A. Two runs, lots of fresh greens.

  • Permanent coop with 4 pop doors on corners. Movable electric poultry netting...build a temporary run outside each door, then move as desired?

My daughter's mother-in-law has that one coop, two runs setup and it works well for her. We are planning to build a coop with a large, hardened run that opens into several separate pens so we can rotate chickens and garden.
