Permethrin spray

Thanks Mary. We have discussed some alterations to the coop and run both in structure and practice to keep wild birds out. This site has a lot of ideas throughout the threads. Like you, we range our flock outside and don't plan on changing that. We've probably been a little lucky to have not dealt with an infestation before now. So, we'll get after the little buggers tomorrow and tighten up our vigilance!

I used cat shampoo for mites ...just a little bit in a spray bottle ..It has the same ingredient ...and I had it on hand for the cat ...Worked great ..the mites were all dead the next day ..checked a week later no eggs hatched ..but I gave them another spray just in case..the on the vent area and back of the neck

Read all the threads but did not see anything about how safe is it to eat eggs from hen that has been sprayed

it is fake Chrysanthemum Flowers..Toxic to bugs - Also it is like a shampoo ...it is only on the surface .

Yes, but not ALL things you put on the only the surface will leave your eggs safe to eat. Reading labels is always recommended. This is specifically approved for use in poultry, and is safe when used ACCORDING TO THE DIRECTIONS. ;)

I know this is an older thread but I would love to spray the inside of my duck run....as we seem to have a mite issue going on courtesy of a rogue pigeon. Safe to spray permethrin in a duck coop where drilling, etc will be going on? Thanks!
