I wear a mask when i’m cutting the ivy that grows on the fence between our garden/chicken run and the neighbours. Helps a lot against intolerance of the poisonous ivy dust.I forgot to mention that I wear a mask when shoveling bedding/litter.

I am extremely allergic to PI and it's everywhere here. Gloves, long sleeves don't seem to make a difference, only allergy meds after exposure help.I wear a mask when i’m cutting the ivy that grows on the fence between our garden/chicken run and the neighbours. Did the dog sneak up on you?For my own hygiene I wash my hands a lot, almost everytime I come in the house, and my outside shoes don't come inside. I think that's about it. Oh I also wear washable gloves when I pick poop cleaning the coop in the morning, and a pair gets thrown in every time I run a laundry. That's it I think ? I do a few other things for the chicken's hygiene like clean waterers every two days and not use clothes and shoes that I've just worn to an other farm.
I am actually much more careful about the chemical ingredients in personal hygiene products and house cleaners than about bacterias from the chickens.
I did get a tetanus shot recently after having being bitten in the butt by a dog.
There are obviously two school of thoughts on that subject. Not saying it's the right attitude, but being a bit flexible on hygiene notions do make things much more simple for rural life !
Nope, a great Pyrenees is a bit too big to sneak. I've walked past this dog, who is loose in front of his property, almost weekly since he was a puppy. A few days before my partner was telling his owners that he was getting scary, and they said he was just afraid and would never bite.Did the dog sneak up on you?

Unfortunately a lot of owners are very mistaken with this idea, as to your cost. I hope they are now going to take responsibility for this dog and keep it under control.A few days before my partner was telling his owners that he was getting scary, and they said he was just afraid and would never bite.
Wow that sounds scary. Why would the doctor give you a tetanus shot and not a rabies shot ? Who had the rust ? LolNope, a great Pyrenees is a bit too big to sneak. The owners were as shocked as I was. It didn't hurt on the spot, so I did not think to ask them for disinfectant. I freaked out when I got home three hours later and saw how much it bled, three holes, and a enormous dark bruise.
I was mad and yelled at them, but thinking back on it, I can understand in a way that it's hard to admit your loving animal who's so sweet with your kids can act completely different with strangers.Unfortunately a lot of owners are very mistaken with this idea, as to your cost. This dog is vaccinated against rabies and it has become mostly inexistent where I live.Wow that sounds scary. Why would the doctor give you a tetanus shot and not a rabies shot ? Who had the rust ? Lol
