Personal opinions on favourite breed and why, please comment so I can have a idea of which is best

The silkies were free from a guy moving to south Africa for work and the hamburgs were £50 for three from the local market for my girlfriend, I currently have silkie cross hamburg eggs in my incubator due to hatch on Sunday I'm intrigued to see how they will turn out

What I wanted and what I got are two different things! I love the colorful and lace wing breeds, the colorful eggs, and different temperments of the different breeds. When I finally committed to setting up a coop, I had to start thinking about the costs. How many eggs would I get for the feed investment? The blue layers do not lay as much as others. And I had to really think about the chickens ability to deal with Florida heat. Orpingtons are so heavy and so heavily feathered, is it the best choice for here? I love the way the lace feathers look, but it was still a compromise in egg ouput.

I ended up getting gold sex links, which are less gold than red. But what a surprise they are! Their coloring is different enough I can tell the three apart at a glance. There feathers have lacing in different areas and they are really beautiful! They are not friendly, as in jump into my lap and hang out, but they know me, come up to me, follow me around the yard, run to me when they get frightened, and are not mean or aggressive. They are also wonderful foragers, which suits how I want to feed them (natural and low cost).

I am more happy with them than I expected, and cannot wait to see if their egg production lives up to its reputation. One of them is pretty small-- i would feel comfortable calling her bantam sized--and from what I read she probably will have poor production and may be prone to laying problems. Guess we'll see in a couple of weeks!

What do u all think about frizzle hens, I love how small they are and their look, but are they good layers? And will they cost a lot?

I am kinda new to chickens too. but I love my Leghorns, ISA Browns, Production Reds, My 1 Rhode Island Red, and my Black Sex-Links. They are all great. I really love Isa Browns. They are very sweet, gentle, and loving birds. They let you take the eggs from them without pecking me or even fluffing up. I think you would really like them.

I love my frizzle and sizzle hens. They are a lot of fun, very neat looking, and pretty good layers of small eggs. They do go broody, though, so if you don't want chicks that could be a problem.
This is Pixie, my sizzle hen with my mottled bantam cochin rooster to the side of her:
