I am interested in these birds....

This is my first flock (I have chicks). I am interested in them b/c they look so cool and have the dark brown eggs. I cant find much about there temperment and personality to know if it would be a good match in my flock. My flock has some Bantams, and some not...but they are all supposed to be pretty docile, easygoing birds. I dont want to get a chicken that might be overly aggressive or pushy with my easygoing birds.

There is a lady on craigslist that is trying to rehome a Silver Cuckoo Marans chick, so i was considering it. (not like I need another one!!!)

Mine were always calm friendly birds that laid a nice large egg. If you want the dark eggs be sure and get them from a reputable breeder because the hatchery ones often don't lay a very dark egg.

I only have the golden cuckoos. The males are very friendly mellow birds. The females are not as friendly but will come to you for food lol.

ok, thanks!

If they have good personalities, I might just go "save" this one on CL. haha

Good to know! So they are not pushy/aggressive with smaller chickens? That is more of my concern than if they are uber-friendly with me.....

Ours were with a smaller silkie mix and later with a found small hen of unknown parentage, never any problems, thought the cuckoos looked like monsters next to them.

I don't know because I have them with chickens their own age or older only. They don't seem to be aggressive towards the others. In fact, one of my GC hens is one that gets picked on the most by the other kinds of chickens. They seem pretty docile.

However, if you take any new younger chicken and just throw it in with an older/established flock of chickens, you should expect some pecking to happen. You also need to make sure you quarantine any new birds away from the rest of your flock for at least a month.

I had two of them, down to one. Both of them were ridiculously flighty and hated being anywhere near me. Worse than my California White, Minorcas and Leghorns put together. I will never own them again.
