Tracie, back to your original question. Is your coop ground level or raised? Are you babies free ranging or in the coop/run all day?

They are in a tractor for now very small no runner ground level. They are only 2 maybe 3 weeks old (Bantams). Will be attaching runner and fencing around it later for tham to have more room. NO free range unsupervised here for now, maybe when bigger. Seams when I put pine shavings in the bottom the ants come around faster...hope that helps. They only spend days outside and in my bathroom at night.

We've put down lots of ant killer granules everywhere in the yard and surprisingly the chickens don't mess with it. You know nothing will actually ever get rid of fire ants, we just have to make them uncomfortable so they move somewhere else. Line around the perimeter with granules next time you move the tractor and see if the ants come in again. Just watch the chicks so they don't get in the poison. Just an idea to try.
