Pet goat?

I posted pictures back on the other page.

That is Goatie, the wonder goat, the pygmy/fainter. She does not faint. It could be because she is so bold though.

Personally I love her mix, and she is extremely cute! But I'm not sure if it's healthy.

She has a Pygmy fat belly, but has long skinny legs like a fainter. So her legs crunch when she walks. I can see her having some serious health problems with that in a few years.

I will try to get some more pictures soon.

Her bowing. It was in the dark in the flash, so thats why it looks funny colored.

Sorry

Ok, we discussed it and it looks like we probably won't be getting a goat. Our county allows two hoofed animals per acre and we're at half an acre so we'd only be able to get one...and the dogs don't stay outside without supervision because my dog sometimes gets goaded into the canal by the ducks (and he hates water, but he likes ducks more).

Plus we have too much landscaping that we wouldn't be able to block off from a hungry goat.

Oh well...I think the chickens should be good enough for now. They're growing so fast.

ELWAR ; The only good pet goat is a Milk Goat !! And even she must be confined ... or she will kill every Tree and shrub in your yard !!! But Milk in my store is up to $4.00 a half gallon ..... Ship her to me HA' .......... ALANB .

You need to check your zoning laws before you get that goat. Lots of incorporated towns have livestock rules, and no matter how much you raise it like a dog, its still a goat. Also, if you are putting it in the yard, you need to be aware that many common plants are poisinous to goats. Like azelas and rhodedendroms, but there are many. Please do your research. And I have raised many goats, and have had many inside my house in a problem situation- I have hardwood floors, and no, it is not easy for them to walk on them. It is actually very difficult with hooves and no traction. I would be concerned that they would not properly develop the correct leg muscles in they were inside and not outside. And all goats smell. Billies worst of all, but they all smell like goat. I love my goats, don't get me wrong. I adore them and keep adding, am up to about 29 now- but you should know ALL of what you are getting into.

this is why we don't keep cows and horses in the house.
