Pet Peeves

Why are these things battles? What is so hard about saying, "Here, let me show you how ..." or "Hey, Honey, would you mind helping me ..." or even, "Excuse me, I think it's your turn to ..." ?

People don't read minds. They can't know what you want or expect them to do if you don't tell them. Communicate, Negotiate, Celebrate. In a relationship, silence is deadly!
You are assuming we haven't communicated with who we are complaining about. And you know what they say about assuming...

You do your boy's laundry? This is the 10 yo? šŸ¤” Mine do their own by age 9. They start by helping at age 3. They can put socks in the proper drawer at that age.
I do my 10 year olds laundry. I would never make him do his own laundry at 10. He puts his own away but to actually run the washer and dryer? No thanks. Those are expensive machines that I don't need him ruining. Plus, the dryer is stacked on the washer. He can't reach it, even with my stool I use

Makes sense. Your situation is different from mine. Forgive me for judging.

That's how it was for me growing up. My mom washed my clothes but I put them away. I was lazy and left them in the basket and my mom was tired of clean clothes in the bin with dirty. After a few loads of that she made me wash my own. I was 12 though. But hey, started washing dishes at 8 yrs.

My mom gifted each of us girls(there are 6 of us) laundry hampers on our high school graduation. Said we were finally trusted to do our own laundry🤣 Which I found funny because I've been cooking since I was about 14. Like, actual cooking, not just spag and balls and easy stuff. Guess her washer meant more to her than the ovenšŸ˜‚

My mom was that way. The family joke was that you had to have a driver's license before she would trust you to touch her washer and dryer. It was Dad who taught my twin brother and me how to do laundry when we were 16, in our senior year. I was amazed, there was nothing to it. But for Mom, there was all kinds of voodoo about separating the clothes, bleaching this or that, water temperature, taking certain ones out of the dryer before they were completely dry, yada yada. It was nuts.
