Pet Peeves

When you bought 2 cords of firewood and you swear that would be enough for the winter but here it is, Feb 23, and you have ran out
I feel ya. Just got done splitting all day Sunday. Thought for sure I was going to be good when I split last year. NOPE.

Yep. Happened to us too. But ours ran out in early January. We ordered more and about a week later our wood-burning furnace died. So all that wood is just the basis for an ice sculpture in the ice/snow that is coming down now.

I wish we had wood that needed split, that was seasoned. But everything we split in the fall was green. Watch the power go out with this new storm🙄

Yeah we have a wood splitter but didn't get trees cut in time. So we ordered...and everything they brought was green. It just creates awful tarry goo in the furnace. This summer we'll be cutting a tree a week from April to September) and splitting it. It will still be somewhat green the coming winter, but what's left over will be great the following winter. 🤦‍♀️ At least that's the plan if some unexpected something or other doesn't eat into every weekend like last summer.

In years past, we've ordered eco bricks through a local company that delivered. The guy was great and cheaper than regular wood. That stuff was amazing too. Stayed hot longer, no creosote at all, and left such little ash we only had to clean out the wood burner one time all season. But, he has retired and no one bought his company so we went back to regular wood. I plan on having 3 cords next year, at least. We are preppers a little, and it's driving us crazy not really having wood left. And we plan on doing the majority of cutting ourselves, there are a lot of dead trees that can come down at my sister's house
