Pet Peeves

Isadora telling me that the server wouldn't let me in because it didn't like me. I mean I understand it is probably true, but she could have lied to me.
Come, come, now. That wouldn't have been as fun.

My first non-commerial flight was in a Stearmen like that. I have flown (road) in multiple WWII planes since. Bombers, fighters, transports and trainers. Even rode in a P-51 and a F-4 Pantom. Nothing was as purely joyful as that Stearman. (Although aerobatics in the F-4 was like riding in God's rollercoaster!)
I Loved my ride in that Stearman!!!
It was honestly the most beautiful plane I've ever had the privilege to see in person.

The airshow I attend is a yearly venue, they also have rides on Panchito, so one year I splurged & took another ride, on the B-25. I wanted to experience that.

My Grandfather was a Army Master Sergeant WWll, training troops in various states before the US joined the war effort. He was among the brave souls in the 1st wave on D-Day & all through the war & Berlin rebuilding afterwards...we can only imagine the atrocities his eyes had seen; he would NEVER speak of those years. All but 2 men in his platoon died on the beach D-Day. Unfortunately, I never got to know him, he passed on from cancer when I was a baby.

I've seen movies, I've walked through many planes on display at shows. I knew it would be loud, uncomfortable with no cushy seating & cold with no heat, but it truly was a unique experience to be in that plane, in flight...strapped in a small, hard seat, the sound of the engines springing to life, you can feel the deep rumbling engine power within your own body, the anticipation of taking off, the bumpy jostling feeling moving down the runway, the exhilerating acceleration, the moment the wheels leave the ground & we become Airborne, the small quarters, just how I had to crawl to maneuver my way into the tail gunner spot & the feeling of flying, while trying to crawl efficiently & not appear to be crawling like an unbalanced, wobbly infant...every surface is cold, hard metal. The engines are so loud, you cannot speak to the person right next to you. We wore headsets with microphones & still had to practically yell. Without headsets the noise is ear ringing deafening. I'm sure many WWll passengers most likely did Not have proper ear protection. The higher we fly, the colder it gets & basically every surface is cold, hard metal...yeah I know I already said that, but THAT is what you are Seriously Aware of the Most...the Entire Time...so just to be clear, you can fuss & fidget all you want, but you will Never actually find a comfortable position! Can you imagine that for hours?
I was filled with even more gratitude, appreciation & respect for our brave WWll generation.

Thank you, because of you, we are free.

Oh, Definitely a Peeve...
People that carelessly toss litter

Double Peeve...
Litter that's obviously Not biodegradable

Triple peeve...
Within view of a proper trashcan!

😠 😡 🤬
I completely agree. To me one of the most telling signs of a diseased mind is when I see someone has gone to a drive through, eaten a meal and left all the trash stacked in a parking lot.
WTF! If you didn't want it inside your car long enough to get to a trash can who do you think wants it sitting in the open?

I also read a study that by that Most of the trash along rural roads wasn't trown out of the window but flew out the back of pickup trucks.

I drive a pickup truck as did my father...never had ANY crap blow out of them. Have a 5 gal bucket or little bag for trash, in the cab. The bed of the truck is for lumber, tools, bags of feed, or anything that can be secured, bungeed, tarped or covered...not freely air blown trash. I always wondered about those morons...do they really not care at all, or are they just lazy? Maybe a combination of both, sadly. 😥

Just got back from 2 farm stores, TSC & the local one. Finally found some Sav-a-chick although it’s expired. Bought it anyway, hopefully it is ok to give. Went to anothet TSC yesterday and they were out too. 🙄

A pet peeve is when the chick waterers in the brooders are empty, or so full of shavings it looks like there is no water. I am very glad there are places to get chicks besides ordering online and finding a local Hatcher, but if you don’t have enough staffing to keep them healthy you shouldn’t sell them. 😡

The last TSC actually had fresh feed & water with the chicks who looked happy & healthy. The farm store chicks looked neglected. Same with TSC yesterday. I’m going to stick with the one I went to today even though they are a bit further away. It was well stocked and they seemed like they cared about the chicks.

Side note: I reeeeealy wanted 2 EE, 2 BO, 2 mixed banties….don’t know how I did it but I walked out with no new chicks! They were super tiny so must have arrived in the last day or two! ❤️
