My XH used to say "Yosemine" instead of Yosemite, even though I kept trying to correct him. Looking back on it now, he probably did it just because he knew it annoyed me. ETA

I used to think it was pronounced like vegemite .. yoh-see-mite ..

I razz her about it because she's got a background in marine biology. I told her if she finishes her masters and goes for a PHD I'm making her focus on cnidarians so she has to talk about anemones when defending her dissertation
