It's actually safe to put a tv over the fireplace, as far as the heat goes, especially fake fireplaces and it looks like that one is. But I understand what you are saying about craning your neck. There are other options of where to put the tv, though

A sane person would, yes. I'm overly particular. TV must be centered directly in front of sofa at slight above eye level. Solid wall behind TV to run cabling through. Windows are permitted behind sofa (or sofa can float in the room).

I will live with postage stamp bedrooms, a minuscule kitchen with no cabinets, and many other unpleasantries. But I gotta have my TV just so!

Another pet peeve. I like sharing videos of my chickens on BYC, but every video ends with gross clickbait thumbnails. Thanks, YouTube. If you want people to click, maybe use that fancy AI to figure out it was a chicken video and suggest more chicken videos.

When I was little, we lived in a huge(to me) colonial house with a giant fireplace. There was a built in bookcase on each side of the fireplace and the doors were stained glass windows. It was wonderful, to read on the rug in front a roaring fire

Yes! We actually had that when I was little!
We built a façade fireplace out of a bookshelf! It was the coolest thing, and literally EVERYONE commented on it, without noticing that there wasn’t even a chimney outside!
