Pet Peeves

Oh boy do I understand that! I've never lived anyplace with such a large snowbird population before. It's... interesting. šŸ˜’
I grew up in Yuma. I understand and appreciate that they come down and spend dollars here, but the benefit is FAR outweighed by the inconvenience of dealing with them.

I visited my sister and was trying to have a conversation OVER THE TV because IT WAS SO LOUD. Finally, I said, "Can we turn that off?" She looked surprised and said ok.

One of the kids came in and said, "What's the matter with the TV? Is it broke?"
People are addicted to cell phones and tvs. They can't function w/o them

Up here in ICE country, boys and girls, driving the limit is a matter of life and death. It gets to be a habit.
Every day we have bad road conditions I get passed by big ol pick up. I get it, big heavy 4x4 trucks can get going pretty good on snow and ice but the going isn't really the issue. Its the controlling and stopping where issues arise and they ain't so good at either when roads are like that and you want to be in such a hurry.

I should have said "not driving over the limit gets to be a habit." But some people think, The cops won't stop me if I drive 5, 10 or 12 over ... and I might could even get away with doing 15 over and before they know it they're doing 80+ in a 65 zone. But here where we deal with black ice, I think we tend to be a little more cautious and THAT gets to be a habit.

West Virginia #2 in the number of serious weather related accidents.
I pay more for liability in WV than I paid for full coverage in NC.The only state with more weather related accidents is Alaska

I'm surprised az is the palest, i guess they mean winter weather and not rain.

Depending on a few factors, that's less than ten minutes drive?
Roads aren't straight highways here, it's cliffs, curves, hills and forest roads where you can't go over 30 for the most of it. 15 Miles could take 30-45 minutes.
My favorite hiking spot is less than 3 miles (as the crow flies) from my house but it takes 15-20 miles on the highway. Then 20 -25 minutes down forest roads.

Most of AZ lives in phx and tucson (4.8 million of 7.8 total). The roads are flat, straight, very urbanized, and we only get "sunny" or "rainy", and decent all weather tires will help the few wet days. The mountain areas do get weather, but people up the hill don't drive as fast and are more cautious. When you see wrecks up there, it's stupid people from phx more often than not. :p
