Pet Peeves

I searched for one very specific thing. And lo and behold, it thinks I'm not looking for that. Annoying.

First snow and the Twp truck had a breakdown, so some roads didn't get salted. Then the whiners, the roads are terrible, no salt, bad mouth the twp employees. Yeah, well how 'bout back when they salted nothing, Plowed and that was it, we dealt with it, even the main highways. Suck it up and deal with it.

Me: I'm going to put this *here* so I don't lose it and it's safe.

I have only the memory of thinking that, I have no idea *where* it is.

I've checked my bookshelves, dresser, desk, pen pot 1,2 and 3, haven't checked under my bed storage though I've cleaned out under there recently and I would remember (hopefully), and the closet shelves.

I'm missing a similar item of equal value to me so hopefully they're together.

Nice and safe. From humans.

Isn't that how memory works?

I once read about the "doorway effect" and ever since I swear I can feel my cookies being cleared as I walk through a door or archway.

Oh isn't it the truth! I KNOW that when I bought my tortilla press I also bought the little plastic sleeves that go with it so your masa doesn't stick to the press. In fact, I bought TWO packages of 100 each. When they arrived I gleefully put them .... somewhere. Somewhere sensible and handy. Right near the press like a sensible mama. That was many moons ago. I have hunted high and low. I'm convinced I've been robbed. Somebody broke into my house and just stole this singular item, right? Sigh. I give up. Will order more. And will TELL somebody where I put them!

... and just you watch. The day the new ones arrive, the originals will jump up and shout, Olé! Here we are! We have been right here the whole time!

What is the point of having a rememberer if it doesn't work when you need it? 🤷🏽‍♀️

Okay today my #1 Pet Peeve is .... (drum roll, please!) ....

Unsolicited YouTube videos.

For some reason people (friends???) want to send me 20 minute to TWO HOUR videos without any kind of explanation and expect me to watch them! Dude! If you want to send me a video, PLEASE have the common courtesy to 1) tell me something about the content; 2) give me some idea how long it is, and 3) ASK ME if I'd be interested in watching it! No thank you, I don't really care to watch a tonsillectomy on a wallaby!

THANK YOU!

This is why I have no friends, lol. 🙄

I have this issue too. I do like having content sent to me as something I may want to see. But sometimes I'll ask for a brief explanation and not get one. Why? "Well just watch the video". No. Tell me about what it contains, and maybe I'll watch it.

I like how Tom Scott does it in his newsletters. He tells you briefly, in a couple sentences, what the video is about, and then links to it. He also provides warnings if the video contains lots of profanity and stuff like that. It helps me decide whether or not it's worth my time. And for the few ones I do watch, I pretty much always enjoy it because it lived up to the description.

And, because I feel like sharing this, here's a video. It's about Christmas lights of the LED variety, and has plenty of good information about them and why they don't look good, and also about lights that are LED and do look good. You are not obligated to watch it. It's about 30 minutes:
