Welcome I believe I've read on BYC that chickens can carry Black head disease to Turkeys.

Not that I know what that is like.

I also know that a randy Tom can kill a chicken hen trying to breed her.

Hello there! I've been lurking here for a long time and very much enjoy the chicken chat, it's great and very informative - thank you.
I'm a pet chicken keeper and very much enjoy my ladies. I also have 3 turkeys, two hens and a stag. Everything is the garden is great, they all get on brilliantly. Turkeys are completely different to chickens in everything really! They are so kind, inquisitive, happy and very affectionate. Their vocabulary is really quite vast too. Has anyone else on this great chat room got turkeys running with there chicken flock? Also, now and again it would be great to chat with others with more experience about health aspects etc.

Hi, I've been breeding Heritage Turkeys for a few years now. My chickens and Turkey's free roam together under supervision due to predators.

You really shouldn't mix Turkeys and Chickens together, there are diseases that both species can pass on to the other that are deadly. That's not to say that ALL mixed flocks will be deadly, some birds do become immune to everything. Hi there! I researched as much as I could before I took the plunge. I've read a lot about the different diseases etc. The turkeys were rescued. I am certainly going to take your advice and check out the sister site of BYC - thank you so much
