I maybe the odd one out, but I have pet turkeys as well. Well, they are pets with a job now. I originally had Gerald and Caroline (a pair or Royal Palms) but a dog had killed Caroline. So, it was just Gerald for a while and he became a favorite. Now I have a herd of two toms and five hen "pet" Royal Palms. Each hen has a custom made apron with its name on and I've contemplated making the boys some bandanas with their names on them. In my opinion, and I may get singled out for saying this on a chicken site, but I think turkeys are better than chickens.
I have two turkeys that will grab my pants strings and drag me around in the morning. They also will grab my shirt and act like a dog playing tug of war. Several turkeys enjoy going on walks and will follow me around the yard several times before finding something else slightly more interesting.

We live next to 100 acres of wooded area. We have wild turkeys that come out and greet our turkeys as well. However, I am not sure if this is a good idea to allow them to be around our house or not due to disease. I have also heard their wild counterparts are very wild and can become very mean. Both of my toms being quite a bit overweight (and yes, I do exercise them, but it doesn't help) and I think a lean tom would be able to easily outdo them on anything physical.
No no tom, she is exclusively in the house and goes outside to play.. She is disabled but trys like hell to hatch those eggs... Thought about the chick idea but i cannot handle another in the house right now... And would not put them outside. And have her inside..
Well I see I'm not alone when it comes to thinking turkeys are special. I have been raising chickens and ducks and this year I added two BBB turkeys to the family.
I must say I do enjoy my turkeys more.
They try to groom my feet when I sit in the yard and then lay on my feet, and they have now started getting jealous of the chickens. If I pick up one of the chickens in their presence they puff up and try to attack the chicken.
They are so special and their personalities are so funny. They love to help me weed my garden and walk around the yard with me while I am doing chores.
My favorite turkey named lucky jumped up on my lap and and decided to take a nap. Lucky is special because I have saved his life from drowning 3 times now.
