I pet sit, and I generally put adverts up on the village notice boards. I guess you could also find them in the classifieds section of your local paper.

Hi, I could do it too!!! im a petsitter, however you would need to pay my travelling expenses!!
There are plenty of associations over there. Just google petsitters and youll find links to sites where you type in your postcode and they come up.
Just have a shortlist, invite each one over and trust your instincts, watch how they interract with your pets.
When you decide which one you will use, draw up a daily care chart.
eg:
mon am~ top up water, and chook food
mon pm~water vegies, check mail, feed fido!
tues am~ and so on.
Also VERY important: tell them that you have parents who will drop in from time to time , to see the pets. That will keep them doing a great job.

If they are to enter your house, check their insurances. This is the advantae of using a professional, ive never had to make a claim, touch wood.
If they are just doing outside, the risks are far lower.
