A chicken and pheasant hybrid is not going to live a long and healthy life. Inbreeding can be a problem if you're not keeping records or banding birds but it's alot easier to fix than bloodlines being genetically polluted." sterile mules " not in Pheasants Inbreeding is fare worse and more serious IMO
I now this thread is old so I forgive me fur restarting it, do any of you guys have any of these crosses ?Good thing there's plenty of ringneck blood to work with. Hell you can buy them from hatcheries by the 100. I don't think people use the rare types you're talking about to breed with chicken hens anyway.
Thats great that you think that , I love pheasants in their natrul form ,"It's not nice to fool with mother nature".
In N.H.,Tony.
but pheasants are species not breeds. Completely different from chickensThats great that you think that , I love pheasants in their natrul form ,
But I also love crosses and just wanted to see some pictures .
Also " fooling" is how we have so many breeds of chickens these days !![]()
That's true , is a jungle fowl a specie's?but pheasants are species not breeds. Completely different from chickens
There are 4 junglefowl species: red junglefowl, grey junglefowl, green junglefowl, and ceylon (or Sri Lanka) junglefowl. Within the reds, there are 5 subspecies: murghi, spadiceus, gallus, jabouillei, and bankiva. Most "junglefowl" people have are actually just chickens and are not true junglefowl (it is equivalent to saying a siberian husky is a wolf). That's true , is a jungle fowl a specie's?
