Pheasant Chicken Hybrids

Pics
Just so Im clear about this cross-breeding thing, if I cross a pheasant (whether golden or ringneck) with say a leghorn all offspring will be infertile? If that is the case then I dont see any point in doing it really. I was hoping for something that tasted more like pheasant than chicken but didnt only lay 60 eggs a year.

I didn't want to offend anyone, but everyone's like "you shouldn't hybridize pheasants" or "it's no big deal" and I'm over here like "I wonder how those would taste."

You're not the only one who thought like that.

Yes, I still have them. They seem to be pretty healthy. They've both escaped several times, but they always come back home. The small one bites hard when handled. The large one has a spur on one leg, so I'm wondering if he might be fertile. They're pretty cool birds, and yeah they'd probably taste good.

Does the resulting offsprings color come from the chicken or pheasant ? I'm also curious that if female pheasant chicks were raised with a chicken chicks that would grow to be a similar size as the pheasant, like a Hamburg, if it would increase the likeliness of a hybrid

The coloration isn't like either parent, but sort of a blending of the two.

While I'm no expert on the subject, birds that are raised together almost always get along better and would probably be more likely to breed than those that are just thrown together.
