I have housed reinforces with chickens in a pinch before. I would think twice before doing it again. The ring neck roo was awfully tough on the chickens had to seperate them right away, however, I just got a breeding quartet of ringnecks who's previous owner (I think) had them housed with chickens without issues....but again these four pheasant are very much laid back compared to what I am accustomed to.

Crossbreading= cool
Selling them= not cool
I like seeing them though

Bit oversimplified I think.

How is selling them not cool?

Conversely, how is crossbreeding (or really, creating hybrids since they're not different breeds, they're different species) also cool rather than uncool?

I reckon it's not black and white, it depends on a lot of factors.

Are you crossing rare species? Not cool.

Are you selling hybrids as purebred anythings? Not cool.

Are you knowingly perpetuating crosses that routinely suffer for being hybridized? Not cool.

Just my thoughts on it. There's a wrong way and a right way to do anything just about.

Best wishes.

we keep pheasants and chicken together and never had this happen, Im not even sure its genetically possible but if you had it happen I guess it must be.

Both genetically possible and proven. :) There have been confirmed hybrids of all sorts...

Quail/chicken/turkey/peafowl/pheasant/guineafowl/etc.

Best wishes.

Thats crazy, I guess I might have to consider splitting them up, dont wanna sell a chicken or pheasant and have a ninja turtle hatch out lol.

Creating hybrids is not so easy, sometimes it happens by accident but more commonly people have to foster chicks under the intended future cross and even then fertility tends to be pretty poor.
