Hi Oz,my farm is in Cauayan City Isabela, . My mom use to have lots and lots of native chickens until they were all wiped out by this avian flu or something, but now I would like to see chickens play in our backyards again,

I got buff and bbs orpington, rir, and mixed. I just have a small flock. When i go back to isabela, i'll raise more breeds

Wow, nice, Im buying BBS Orps, then I plan to buy silkies next, and perhaps I'll buy layer type hybrids. Im keen on buying RIR also, Im actually looking for a reliable supplier in our province,

My birds are feathering out! I see shinier feather growing. Their Old feathers are falling off so i have to do a lot of work to make sure all feathers are picked up.

@ozexpat, can i give them extra protein to help them grow their feather faster? i see recent post that cat food is a good source of protein.

you will do more harm than good by giving too much protein.

Stick to 20% during the first 6 weeks, 16-18% 6-12 weeks, 14% 12-18 weeks and then back to 16% when laying

be careful overloading with food scraps unless thay have adequate protein too.
