PHILIPPINES BYC GROUP

we have 1 Bresse hen but we didn't have a mate for her so we used a splash english orpington rooster

we ended up with some large mostly white offspring

they were yummy :)

the one pictured in front is from this cross

the pullets proved to be good layers like their mother

Are the bresse intended for meat only?

you should het some labhang for your brooder

your blesse is a very rare chicken  in the Phils - maybe just 10 in existance

I have 2 adult bresse and 9 chicks - probably all the pure bred bresse in the country

Oh you're blessed to have Blesse mickmeek.

btw, i changed my feeds today because i noticed that the chicks aren't eating their food. i think the feeds are too big for their small beaks and not soft enough too. Their cropsare almost empty and they only eat vey little, they only pick up the small pieces.

Ok but if you need another batch just let me know.
Thats lots of muscovies. :)

Here's my blue legged chick named "Blesse".
1000

Cute!!! My chicks are now flighty. They like to roost. My JG can't fly yet because his wings haven't enough feathers yet and he is the heaviest!

They are chest bumping everyday so i guess they are establishing their pecking order as early as now

Thats good Mike, sometimes chicks will choose feeds. I cannot wait to see your JG and Marans grow.

I dont have marans yet, maybe when Oz sell Marans again i'll get one together with australorp. My first batch are now really big and they aren't as skittish as before.

I think i have to cull 2 of my chickens . My first bbso looks like he has a leg problem, i think his feet can no longer support his body. One My second batch chickens is also a roo so i will have to send him to freezer camp as well. My father has to do the culling as i can't watch my own chicken being culled lol

they are known to have some of the best meat in the world when fed the correct diet.

they want to be out free ranging or in a large area not stuck in a coop 24 hours a day (once they are old enough)

i wait till my birds are atleast 8 weeks old unless they were hatched by they broody mother

at the moment i have a hen that's 2 years old & she is doing well

they are not like the CX meat birds who needed to be processed before they ever start to lay an egg
