I was just looking at my spresdsheet and the white bresse are 20 weeks old already.

I am hoping to get eggs in the next 6 weeks. It will be nice to have a new breed.

I wont plan on selling them until I have around 30 females so I will be looking at Christmas before I release them for sale.

I am also going to continue crossing the White Leghorn with the Bresse to see what develops. Maybe we will get a decent dual porpose hybrid.

i finally caught Matcha laying an egg. She is a silent layer so this is my first time to see her laying an egg and inside the nesting box. This is her 25th egg!!!

Hey y'all

I just put 19 Duck eggs in the incubator today for a neighbor. I find it hard to explain what it takes for eggs to hatch. I candled the eggs before placing them in the incubator and the prospects are not real good. Some of the eggs were so thin shelled that there is little chance they will hatch. Some had almost no air cavity. And some had a yolk that looked like it had been scrambled. I looked like 6 eggs are of good quality an might hatch. The neighbor still wanted me to try. So for his sake I hope we have better success than I think we will. Expected hatch date will be on June 13, my youngest daughter's birthday.

Yes the eggs will explode if left in the incubator to long. With duck eggs I candle three times and when I feel sure they are not good, I will remove them. So far I have been lucky and have never had one explode.
