I can’t tell. They look pretty smooth in life, as do the legs scales of the other three chickens she lines with. What about the picture tipped you off to leg mites? The dark stuff is mud. To be safe, I may dust the whole coop with DE and treat the chickens with the oil/vasoline treatment. They do dust bathe most days, with DE and wood ash mixed in with the soil
