She's gorgeous! So very sorry for your loss. What breed is she?

I'd remove those two dark objects in front of her face. What are they someone's boots? I'd also blur the backdrop more. What is that green/sage thing behind her & under the 'boots', a bucket?
She‘s a GLW. What do you use to remove individual parts of a photo?

I have no clue what y’all are talking about. Burn tool? Clone stamp?

Can you edit individual parts of an image instead of always the whole image? How? What do you use?
Yes. There are a number of tools for mobile and for desktop. In this case I'm talking about the burn tool in Adobe Photoshop. You can use it for spot darkening of an image, and I was talking about doing it in an adjustment layer. Layers are exactly what they sound like. Effects layered on top of your original image. Similar to adding multiple layers of paint to a painting to get a finished product.

As I said, there a bunch of tools out there for this for all ecosystems. Usability varies and so does the price point. Photoshop and Lightroom run 20 bucks a month for the subscription, which is what I'd consider the basics you'd need to do serious photo editing and workflow. Having said that, most people don't need it. You can use tools like snapseed on android and get some editing ability that way, for free.

I have Adobe photoshop, I use it for some simple editing, but I don’t know what all these fancy tools are. I’m very familiar w/ layers due to digital art, but again, it’s all the tools and thingies I don’t get.

Go youtube some tutorials! :p Photoshop is even MORE useful for photography than art (which really illustrator is better for). The learning curve can be steep, but there's a ton of YT vides out there on the basics and how to get more complex effects.

For instance, look up how you can cut out your GLW from the cluttered background and paste her into another image. She'd be well beyond "simple edits" at that point and you couldn't user her in a BYC contest unless there was an "unlimited hax to photos" contest, but you'd be able to drop her on a clean background and blend her in, for example.
