Well, less chicken butt for starters in the first one. And probably a lower angle of approach for the chicks. They're getting lost in the grass.

In the second one, your boy there is just a mess. That's a really awkward angle to get a photo from and it really hurts the overall composition of the shot. His eye is nicely in focus, kudos on that. You need to get a better angle than a front oblique overhead for this guy, he just looks like he's broken.

I like the original better. Maybe dehaze it, but keep the saturation down low.
