How could have/can this photo be improved?

It's not bad as a snapshot goes. Always remember to level your background though. your pony's running uphill to the right and the trees are leaning left.

Shooting into the sun when it's low like this can be complicated because it washes all the color out and you can get weird lighting. Ideally you'd have a bit more light on the front side as well to make the shadows a bit less harsh.

On the flip side, the light coming through the mane looks super cool.

Aside from it being a bit soft, I don't necessarily see anything wrong with it technically. If there's any way to shoot it again and catch it with some brighter light on it so you can get some contrast and shadow in play, it would wake it up.

Hey, do you guys have any suggestions as to how I could make either of these pictures better? I think the chair, turkey rear, and bucket could be re.oved from the second picture to improve it. What are all of your thoughts?

You need better lighting on the fish. Otherwise that image is fine.

Agree, declutter yuor background and the second one will be better.

Those are two good pics. I agree about the background clutter and lighting. I like the composition on the chicken. The focus is on the eye which is good. It could also be improved by shooting in better light, like early morning golden hour light, lighting up the front of the chicken. The fish could also be improved if the black rod/hinge thing wasn't visible. Obviously it's a fish in a tank but if you remove the manmade elements it would look more "natural", I guess. Since he can't run away from you, lol, you could drape a bedsheet over the wall/black rod, to create an smooth/even background. Or maybe move slightly to the right to get it out of the frame. Two pretty good pics the way they are though.
