I went from an S9 to an S19 to the Note 20 ultra over the last 6 years or so.

Oh I didn't know if S20 was the same. That one would be doable.

The S9 was one I was looking at quite a bit but I wasn't sure if it was too old now or not.

You won't have current features, Android 10 is the latest OS available. Depending on what you use it for that could cause you some compatability issues.

I have had an S20 FE for about 2 years and it has been great. I bought my mom and dad one too and they haven't had any issues either. I saw a refurbished one on Amazon for less than $200.

It has a good camera as far as phones go.

Oh, I wonder what the difference is between the FE one and just the S20.

The FE was a little cheaper when I bought I mine. I paid $550-600 2 years ago I think. There were very little differences between the two, not enough to sway me either way so I bought the cheaper one. Either would be a good phone.

I usually only take snapshots with my phone and I don't typically use it to take very good pictures. I keep my mirrorless camera in my truck and use it when i want to take a real good photo.

It takes good pics for a phone but it will not be like a good dslr or mirrorless camera. Unless you are looking for a very specific trait in the camera, I bet just about any newer phone will work good enough for you.

Here are a few pics in different conditions but most were not taken in great picture taking conditions...
