I use a Canon 60D without any fancy lenses. I’m still pretty new to photography and know basically nothing about cameras, so I still have a lot to learn, and I hope to get better!

Ever pushed the shutter button down and the autofocus just flat out won't autofocus and just cycles? Using back button focus options (if your camera supports it) allows you to override the auto focus when the camera's brain can't figure out what you want to point at. Do you need it? Maybe? It really depends on what you're shooting and how your camera behaves.I read this once but I didn't understand some of it.
I'm going to read it again.
I had no clue. I've said this a million times over the last few years but I am going to get up and plug the battery for my camera and see if I can figure it correctly.Ever pushed the shutter button down and the autofocus just flat out won't autofocus and just cycles? Back button focus is different than the AF/MF. I have been on a couple of workshops where they talk about BBF for wildlife photography, but using a Nikon. On a Canon I think they call it something else in the camera manual. I am still confused about what it is for.Yep.Ok, I'm a little confused by your question... On the focus, you can switch from Automatic (where it will clear and focus in on what you want), or Manual (where you have to move the lense to focus and clear it yourself). If that's what you're talking about, it's in the last picture below on the lense. There's a switch that says AF (Autofocus) MF (Manual Focus). If you want to focus by hand, you slide it to MF. If you want the camera to focus for you, slide it to AF.
Hopefully that is what you was asking about. If it's not, maybe there's a button on the camera you see in the pictures below that you can point to asking me? Sorry I'm a little confused by your question.![]()
Thanks. I will take time to look at that tomorrow.
Those are great. First rule of photography:I just use an android phone. Nothing fancy

I do have a real camera that my granpda gave me though. I'd like to try to learn how to use it once I find it..
I would love to get better wildlife photos. Especially close ups of small critters.
Is that a good/okay camera?A D500 would be a Nikon DSLRDX format crop camera.
